The combination of readily accessible bulk material and the unpredictable winter weather events in Northeast Ohio was the motivation behind the creation of Abraxus Salt, LLC.

With salt shortages and the lack of availability of de-icing materials a reality in the area, many companies and contractors have fallen short in acquiring product that has negatively impacted public safety standards and client expectations. As a result, Abraxus Salt, LLC fills a vital role in the supply of bulk salt and other ice control products.

In 2000, Abraxus took a major step toward industry prominence when a $1.3 million salt dome was erected in Brooklyn, Ohio capable of holding 6,000 tons of salt. This investment and commitment also forged a relationship with Cargill Deicing Technology. Today, Abraxus Salt, LLC has become one of the largest privately owned providers of bulk and bagged deicing chemicals including ClearLane®, an environmentally friendly rock salt treated with liquid magnesium chloride that works with increased efficiency in lower temperatures with corrosion inhibitors and requires less product per application.

The facility also features a full staff of loaders, scale operators,salt spreading equipment and drivers who are ready 24/7during the winter season. Abraxus has a 100 ton scale and has assembled a fleet of single axle, six axle, semi-dump and flat bed trucks with forklifts to ensure fast, efficient delivery. To complete the process, our scales are linked to the accounting system for an accurate account of each organizations usage.

In another major step and commitment to the industry, Abraxus Salt is currently in negotiations to construct another salt dome.
